VASSY

How does a girl from a tiny waterfront town in Australia's Northern territory rise into an international recording artist with multiplatinum success, fans around the globe, and a label of her own? For VASSY, it boils down to attitude...

The powerhouse vocalist, songwriter, producer, and KMV founder fearlessly followed her dreams in the face of all obstacles and accomplished the seemingly impossible on her own terms.

That spirit of defiance defined her approach from day one—and always will.

"Dreams keep us alive," she exclaims. "I never had a 'Plan B,so I just stuck to 'Plan A'. I'm a believer that if you want something, you've got to visualize it, and it will happen. I want to encourage people to dream and believe.”

She exemplifies that philosophy. Growing up in a family of Greek immigrants in Darwin, Australia, her beginnings were humble, but she always possessed a great amount of ambition and a deep passion for music. She coupled that with a charitable spirit and received grants from the local government to host hip-hop workshops in detention center prisons in order to empower these individuals to have hope for change and a better life.

Around the same time, the first song VASSY wrote reached #1 on National Radio in Australia. As a result, she very quickly attracted a fan base who respected her down-to-earth hustle. That translated to North America. Relocating to the States, she quietly entrenched herself into the world of electronic dance music, becoming one of the genre's most ubiquitous & unique voices.

2014 saw her join forces with David Guetta and Showtek on the global smash "Bad." It ascended to #1 in over twenty countries, achieved a gold plaque from the RIAA in America, received fourteen international platinum certifications, clocked over 1 billion streams, and garnered "Best Featured Vocalist Performance" at the International Dance Music Awards [IDMA].

Maintaining this momentum, she accompanied Tiësto & Kshmr on the 2015 anthem "Secrets," which holds the distinction of being "Spinnin's second best-selling single of all time" in addition to six platinum and two gold certifications, a #1 spot in over 24 countries, and an IDMA for "Best Electro Progressive/House Track.” Next up, Tiësto co-produced her #1 Billboard solo single "Nothing To Lose," while she teamed up with Afrojack for "LOST"—which marked her fourth #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Charts in the US.

She didn’t stop. Kicking off 2018 with GRAMMY® Nominated Canadian duo Sultan + Shepard for "Somebody New” VASSY knows how to captivate her fans through her versatile ability to write anthemic hooks to more soulful intimate songs. Her voice & lyrics inspire hundreds of thousands of people around the world to sing along with her at festivals like ULTRA & Tomorrowland. Simultaneously, her music has been heard in global TV Campaigns for Target, Nickelodeon, Skechers, Victoria's Secret, Nike, Pepsi in addition to Pretty Little Liars and Grey's Anatomy. Among countless syncs, "We Are Young" featured in the trailer for Disney’s Oscar winning Frozen as well as Tina Fey’s Admission

Throughout everything, she unwaveringly clung to a personal set of ideals.

"I value authenticity and being true to who I am as an artist,” she exclaims. “I’ve always wanted to have a label.  That's where the name of my label KMV came from. It stands for 'Kiss My VASSY'. I believe rejections are redirections. I never fit the box. So, I tell my fans that If someone doesn't like you, just tell them to 'Kiss My VASSY!' It's a declaration of being who you are -be proud!”

In 2018, she initiated a joint venture for KMV with RED/Sony in the United States. Fittingly, she ignited this chapter with a new banger on "Doomsday." Her expansive vocal range immediately enchants over lush production and driving percussion. With the hypnotic hook, "I know I'm prepared for doomsday," she inspires people to keep going—even in their darkest hour—hence world’s end.

"I wanted to create a dark and moody anthemic ballad about facing our inner demons," she exclaims. "To inspire listeners to get through the struggle—whatever it is. You're standing on the edge for dear life, but you're finding a way to keep going."

In the end, VASSY's attitude will bring dreams to life for a long time come.

"I’m living proof that dreams do come true,” she leaves off. “Now, it’s time for me to encourage others to bring their dreams to life.”
